Nothing carries more joy and meaning than writing our own Fai Chun (揮春) to welcome the Year of the Horse. This year, AMEF partnered with The Ink Society to host a series of creative ink workshops, bringing the beauty of traditional Chinese culture to underprivileged students.
Led by renowned calligrapher Dr Chui Pui-chee, the workshops focused on the art of patience and detail. Dr Chui taught students the fundamentals of calligraphy posture and positioning, helping them cultivate mindfulness, patience, and concentration. He also introduced the traditional history of Fai Chun, giving students a deeper connection to Lunar New Year traditions. The workshops sparked creativity, and students integrated playful, horse-themed designs into their calligraphy. The room was filled with laughter as the students proudly displayed their custom, ink creations.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr Chui and his teaching assistants for their inspiring guidance, and to The Ink Society for their generous support. Together, we look forward to bringing more enriching art programs to underprivileged communities.
