Hong Kong's art education system primarily focuses on Western art history, resulting in limited exposure to Chinese painting for primary and secondary school students, who are often restricted to brief mentions in textbooks or exhibitions. This activity introduces the Mogu-hua (没骨畫) style, known for its delicate and pure color tones, and uses the Picture of the New Year (歲朝圖) as the subject matter, a traditional painting that conveys blessings and good wishes. This workshop aims to help students understand the fundamental concepts of Chinese painting and create their Picture of the New Year, resembling a classical Chinese still-life painting.
Thanks to the generous support of The Ink Society, 200 students will benefit from this event. Each student will receive a set of exquisite painting supplies. With the after-class notes provided by the teacher, students can continue to explore the joy of Chinese painting at home!
Through hands-on experience with brushwork, students will appreciate the unique techniques and artistic essence of traditional Chinese painting and trigger their interest in Chinese art and culture. Designed as a progressive learning journey, this workshop seeks to plant the seeds of Chinese art in the younger generation, encouraging them to engage with and explore this cultural heritage in the future.
